Louisiana Chainsaw Massacre

After hurricane Gustav came through and did a thorough job with our yard we, of course, had to get all excess waste out. This included a lot of cutting up of trees and large limbs. We figured the best way to make easy work of this was to use a chainsaw. Somehow, I get the impression that my dog would rather us have used rusty spoons to cut the tree into pieces…

Obama’s Mama

My dad found this video. I think he makes his point pretty clear.

Bound by the “Cross”

Two weeks ago, in our writing class at co-op, we were watching a video. This video was titled “How Great is Our God”. If you haven’t seen the video, I would ask you to watch it before reading this post. It’s incredible! I had never seen it before and as I watched a new realization overcame me. I’m so puny and insignificant in comparison to the rest of God’s creation… and yet, God still loved me so much that He sent His son down to die on the cross for my sins! How Great is MY God!

John 3:16 ”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

God is the one who holds the universe together, including us!

Colossians 1:15-20 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

What holds us together? Laminin! So… what exactly is laminin? Read the rest of this entry »

iLOVE

Last week my mom held in her hand a gadget that not only surpasses our telephones and televisions but comes mighty close to our computers. She had gotten an iPhone. It’s sleek design along with all of the built in programs/features makes it a highly coveted device. (Coveted by the rest of the family that is)

This iPhone is one of the new 3G phones. Not only does it have faster internet capabilities but it also has a built in app-store. You can get new applications for free or for a very minimal cost.

For an example of what the iPhone can do, go to our family blog and see the post my dad wrote and published all from the iPhone.

A whole new world

This is a youtube video of Nick Pitera singing “A whole new world” from Disney’s Aladan. It’s pretty incredible.

My Superman!

This is just a picture that I photoshoped real quick.

Over the Wall

Me and my friend Jess have always been…. stupid. One of the ways is that we learned a lot of gymnastics… in the yard. We finally joined a real gym class but still have fun going back to our origins; the grass and dirt. Here are a couple of pictures from our adventures at the park!

Don’t clean your house!

entropy2.jpg

Just to clarify in this post I will define entropy for you since this is what the post is about.

Entropy(S) – A measure of the disorder that exists in any system.

When you clean, you bring stuff from a state of disorder to a relatively orderly state. This means that the entropy of those masses actually decreases because it is being made orderly. This is a good thing. But we see that this clearly contradicts the 2nd law of thermodynamics which is:

Second Law of Thermodynamics – the entropy of the universe must always either increase or remain the same. It can never decrease.

ΔS universe ≥ 0

The change in the entropy of the universe is always going to be greater than or equal to zero!

However, when you move things around it stirs up the air causing the molecules to move fast which in turn causes the entropy of the surrounding environment to rise. Also, your body is burning calories while you work, causing your body to heat up which then causes your body’s entropy to rise. If you measure the amount of increased entropy of the surrounding air and your body as well as the decreased entropy from you putting your house into a more orderly state, then you will see that the entropy actually is positive, meaning you actually put the world in more disorder. The example above that I gave about the house actually does NOT contradict the 2nd law of thermodynamics. DON”T CLEAN YOUR HOUSE!! YOUR DISSRUPTING THE WORLD!!!!!

NCFCA Speech/Debate

Last Wednesday I left for Memphis, Tennessee for a speech and debate tournament. Micah(my partner in debate, duo, crime…), Landon (his brother), Miss Angelle(their mom), Rebecka(their younger adopted sister from China), and myself all were crammed into their minivan along with all of our luggage. Not to mention the debate/apologetics/extemporaneous/speech boxes and bags! It was  a nice ride up. We watched spiderman 3 and played the alphabet game. In Memphis we stayed with their Uncle.

I learned how to do the moonwalk yesterday… sort of. Take a look!
