Who said ‘Cats’ don’t like water?

As you may already know, I’m on the Central High School Swim Team. This is my second year. Yesterday was a historic moment for the Central High swim team ‘08. Our first meet! I must say, I was impressed. Though, half our team was made up of new members, we still did extremely well. We had several of our new members break records! Two on our team, who are year round swimmers, won first place in their events and we had multiple in-heat first places. Here is a break down of some swim terms regarding when you swim and where.

Event – this is what race you are swimming in. Example: Boy’s 100 Butterfly or Girl’s 50 Freestyle

Heat – Because there are only eight lanes in the pool, when there are more than eight people entered into one event we must split them up in to multiple heats. Therefore, if you have 13 people you would have two heats. The first heat containing eight people (maxing out) and the second heat containing 5 (the rest of the competitors in that event).

Lane – Self-explanatory, a lane is what portion of the water you are swimming in between two lane ropes. There are eight lanes. Read the rest of this entry »

Bound by the “Cross”

Two weeks ago, in our writing class at co-op, we were watching a video. This video was titled “How Great is Our God”. If you haven’t seen the video, I would ask you to watch it before reading this post. It’s incredible! I had never seen it before and as I watched a new realization overcame me. I’m so puny and insignificant in comparison to the rest of God’s creation… and yet, God still loved me so much that He sent His son down to die on the cross for my sins! How Great is MY God!

John 3:16 ”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

God is the one who holds the universe together, including us!

Colossians 1:15-20 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

What holds us together? Laminin! So… what exactly is laminin? Read the rest of this entry »

Would you like an apple? It’s gooood?

Well, the dreaded future has now become dreadful reality as we plunge our minds and body back into the deep abyssssssss of school! For us homeschoolers it started last Monday, giving me a week to experience 11th grade before I write this post. Though some may be waiting for a gruesome horror story, all I have to say is “It’s fine…”

School, though it seems to be of the devil at the end of the year, always tends to start off on the right foot for me. Here’s a quick list of some of my subjects:
